Convert Word to PDF

Word to PDF turns a .docx document into a PDF that looks the same on any device, without Microsoft Word installed. It is useful on a phone or a shared computer.

Choose a Word file Accepts: One Word file (.docx). Free, no sign-up.

Your files are processed inside this browser tab and are not uploaded to Maher PDF. Please read the Privacy Policy before working with sensitive documents.

The document is laid out page by page with its real page size and margins, headers and footers, tables, images and text formatting. Long documents are split into pages automatically, and tables that cross a page are split between rows. Each page of the PDF also gets an invisible, searchable text layer, so you can search and copy text (Latin script).

Fonts matter for an exact match. If a font such as Calibri or Cambria isn't installed on your device, the converter uses a metric-compatible open font (Carlito, Caladea, Arimo, Tinos or Cousine) with identical character widths, so line breaks stay the same. Charts, SmartArt and some advanced Word features may not appear exactly as in Word.

Common problems

My .doc file was rejected.
Only the newer .docx format can be read. Save the file as .docx in Word, LibreOffice or Google Docs.
Page breaks fall in slightly different places.
Word calculates layout with its own engine. Small differences in spacing can move a line to the next page. For exact page-by-page output, Word's own Save as PDF is the reference.
A chart is missing.
Charts and SmartArt aren't rendered by the browser converter. The result card warns you when the document contains them.

Tips

  • Documents that use standard fonts (Calibri, Arial, Times New Roman, Cambria) convert most faithfully.

Usually very closely: page size, margins, headers, footers, tables and images are kept. Charts, SmartArt and some advanced features may differ.
